Trestival | A Showcase of St Albans Youth Theatre

  • Trestle Arts Base Russet Dr St Albans, England, AL4 0JQ United Kingdom (map)

Due to the extreme heat forecast this weekend, we've made the difficult decision to cancel Saturday's Trestival showcase. We know how much everyone has been looking forward to it, and we're so sorry. The safety of our young performers has to come first.

Tickets will be automatically refunded.

Trestival is a St Albans Youth Theatre Showcase celebrating the outstanding drama work taking place in and around the city. This year's event features three compelling performances: Mods and Gonsters, a devised piece from the Trestle School of Drama's Advanced class; Mephisto, performed by Marlborough Science Academy; and A Lesson (from me to you), a selection of scenes from a trilogy of work written by Megan Jenkins, informed by and first performed by young people from Best Theatre Arts.

Trestival marks an exciting first for Trestle Arts Base, bringing together young performers from across the local area under one roof for a shared celebration of youth theatre. It is a brilliant reminder of the creativity and talent thriving in St Albans, and a wonderful opportunity for audiences to experience some of the very best drama being made by and for young people in the city.

Saturday 27 June, 6pm
Tickets: From £8 (Pay What You Can)

Trestle School Of Drama (Advance) | Mods and Gonsters

An unsuspecting antique shop full of all sorts of antiquities provides the perfect cover for meddling Gods, right? A place where every God could be a monster and every monster could be a God. Let’s meddle with some mortals and mess with monsters!

Marlborough Science Academy | Mephisto

Five centuries after Faustus’s damnation, Mephistopheles still languishes in Hell, punished by Lucifer for the sin of mercy. Given one final chance at freedom, he is sent back to earth with six months to condemn five souls.

But the modern world is already corrupt: obsessed with fame, greed, and hollow self-worship. As Lilith watches his every move, Mephistopheles is torn between obedience to Hell and his lingering compassion for humanity.

This dark original production asks whether redemption is possible in a world already selling its soul.

Best Theatre Arts | A Lesson (from me to you)

Is a selection of scenes from a trilogy of work written by Megan Jenkins, informed and first performed by the young people from Best Theatre Arts.  3 individual pieces of theatre, aimed at different ages to inspire conversation across the generations.  The performers are made up of performers from Best Youth Theatre 1 & 2, The Company (Youth music theatre ensemble) and Best School of Acting.

NB: Tickets for this performance are flexibly priced starting at £8. The higher the ticket price you choose, the more funds we'll raise to create bursaries for Trestle School of Drama. These bursaries will expand access to our creative programs and experiences for young people across the district.

As a registered charity without regular funding, every penny raised is crucial for Trestle to continue our work. By selecting a higher priced ticket, you'll make a more substantial contribution. This directly enables us to reach and support more young people in the community, providing transformative creative opportunities that may otherwise be inaccessible.

Whilst we are always grateful to receive donations in support of Trestle School of Drama we want all tickets to be as accessible as possible without restrictions. Please pick the pricing option that you need.
