Herts Visual Arts Open Studios Exhibition | Kayleigh Cooper - Let’s Do The Rainbow

  • Trestle Arts Base Russet Dr St Albans, England, AL4 0JQ United Kingdom (map)

Herts Open Studios 6th – 28th September 2025

This September, Herts Open Studios returns for the 35th year with artists exhibiting in venues across Hertfordshire. This annual event enables artists and makers to open their studio doors, to meet visitors, talk about and demonstrate their work, and engage with an audience of art enthusiasts.

Our members are a diverse group, showcasing many different skills and media.  We have leather work and landscapes, wood turning and watercolours and sculpture and seascapes, plus painters and potters all over the county.

A printed map and full brochure are available in supermarkets and arts venues across the county. You can also use our venue search below to find your local artists and plan your visits.

Herts Open Studios runs from 6 – 28 September, but you can visit Kayleigh’s exhibition here at Trestle until 23 October.

Let’s Do The Rainbow

Let’s Do The Rainbow is a body of work exploring the beauty and celebration of individuality. By creating a mix of relaxed and posed portraits, I aimed to capture parts of individuals’ personalities and create a safe space for them to express themselves. Self-comparison is so prominent in our society, always aiming to be something different, to present a particular outside view to those around us. But what if we took more moments to appreciate the joyful experience of existence without stress and expectations on ourselves to change? To me, difference is wonderful and helps the world grow.

Artist Statement

I am a visual artist focused on photography. Throughout my art journey, I have used digital photography to capture portraits which convey people’s personalities and style in studio and outdoor environments. I started out taking photos of friends on my phone, before going on to study Art and Design (Photography) at college and completing a Bachelor’s in Photography at University. Following my graduation, I have now enjoyed getting to know more about Hertfordshire’s amazing art community and Herts Visual Arts, and my love for the art form has continued to grow exponentially. My work is often centred around the topics of equality, empowerment and individuality. I am very passionate about these areas, and I believe we deserve to be celebrated for who we are and what makes us all unique. For this Let’s Do The Rainbow series I created an uplifting body of work to show how we are all different and that is wonderful, with this display holding a community feeling.
