Trestle School of Drama

I really love the fact that it’s just such a relaxed space, I’ve been to so many other drama classes before where there’s a big separation between adults and children, where […] it feels like you’re not allowed to be as creative as you can at Trestle. I feel very lucky to have access to something as brilliant as Trestle.

MEET THE TEAM

Karene Horner-Hughes (she/they), Creative Projects Manager
Karene joined Trestle shortly after finishing her degree in Drama and English Literature at Portsmouth University. She has been working with youth groups and as a freelance drama practitioner for 15 years and has been trained by Trestle as a mask and physical theatre specialist. As well as her work with young people Karene is an actress and has appeared in Trestle Theatre’s tour of Yarico and as Boudicca in our Herts Hidden Heroines HLF Project. She is also an experienced prop maker and puppeteer. Karene takes real pride in seeing her students flourish and is excited to see what Trestle School of Drama will create next. When not teaching drama she can be found either running or baking!

Hatty Hardy (she/her), Creative Projects Assistant
Hatty has just finished her Drama degree at the University of East Anglia. There she enjoyed trying a variety of new skills from singing and dancing to lighting design and set building, but ultimately writing, and creating new performances remains her favourite! Hatty is also a huge movie fan and loves trying to see every new film in the cinema. She can’t wait for what this upcoming year at Trestle will bring!
