Suman Gujral and Patrick Joyce
Tues 30 Sept- Mon 3 Nov 2014
Thur 2 Oct 7-9pm
The Trestle Gallery Cafe will be hosting an exhibition of etchings and prints by artist Suman Gujral and a selection of pieces by ceramicist Patrick Joyce.
Suman is a fine art printmaker, specialising in original traditional and solar etchings. Drawing inspiration from life and the landscapes around us, a lot of her prints are of local areas in Hertfordshire, where Suman has exhibited extensively as a fellow of Digswell Arts Trust and a member of the HVA.
“I love the unpredictable nature of printmaking-and the different moods and textures that can achieved depending on how I have inked up the plate and the sort of paper I have used.“
Patrick creates ceramic forms using the technical ‘raku’ method, which involves firing pieces at low temperatures and then covering them in a combustible material whilst still hot. This atmosphere causes the glaze to react, producing beautiful cracked patterns. He is also a fellow at Digswell Arts Trust and exhibits and demonstrates regularly throughout Hertfordshire.
Entry is free and the exhibition is open during our normal Arts Base hours, please click here for more information. For enquiries about the exhibition space at Trestle, please contact our Gallery Programmer Elaine Johnson on firstname.lastname@example.org / 01727 850950
