Thursday 14 March – Monday 13 May
An exhibition showcasing a varied selection of textile artworks by local artist Jessica Geen, from large scale mixed media canvases to small detailed hand embroidered brooches.
Jamcrafts, stands for Jessica Alys Mary Crafts. Jessica studied Art and Design at college and gained a BA (Hons) degree in Textile Crafts at university where she graduated in 2003, since then she’s been making, stitching, painting every chance she gets. She specializes in hand embroidery as she feels more able to ‘draw’ with the threads without the restrictions of a machine; however she does use the machine to create her cushion covers, guaranteeing a high quality and professional finish.
Her playful and vibrant designs are juxtaposed with natural fabrics, detailed with stitch, appliqué and beading. They often feature charming characters from her own imagination, as well as from popular stories.
