Little Cuts – Scratch Performance

Friday 18 September, 2pm

May Contain Nuts Theatre Company will be performing a scratch performance of their new piece ‘Little Cuts‘.

Little Cuts presents the issue of self-harm through the framework of a theatre company devising a production to be presented within schools.  The characters explore the broad definition of self-harm: from the misuse of alcohol to cutting; from engaging in harmful relationships to placing ourselves in risky situations.  Although the piece purposely doesn’t arrive at a conclusion, it does encourage an audience to see that self-harm and how an individual relates to it is both unique, and multi-faceted in its purpose.  Following the performance there is a question and answer session with the company as well as a workshop to look further at the issues.

May Contain Nuts Theatre Company has been producing material on mental illness for three years.  The company is based in adult mental health services in Watford and comprises of members who are involved in mental health services as patients, carers or service providers.  Their experience is broad and comprehensive on the issues they present.  Previously they have performed at Universities, Multi-disciplinary teams, theatres and clinical meetings as a way to educate audiences further about the issues and treatment in mental health.
