All around Macbeth, people are hiding behind masks and it is through the masks that they reveal their true selves. He doubts everyone and is thus caught in the vortex of fear. He also doubts himself and gives the prophecies precedence over reason. Eventually, it is his fear that takes his life.
This interpretation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth uses elements of mask theatre and Indian motifs to tell the story of fear and deceit. Vaishali Chakraavarty directs the students of Joy Of Drama’s Shakespeare Summer Program India-UK 2023.
