Summary of Covid 19 specific Policies for Trestle School of Drama

  1. Although National Guidelines have been updated Trestle Theatre Company will still be implementing measures to prevent the spread of Covid 19 across their work and venue.

  2. The capacity of our sessions will be limited per space to ensure that social distancing of 1m can be adhered to.

  3. Temperatures will be checked on arrival with no access if above 38C.

  4. All staff will be regularly taking lateral flow tests and we ask participants to do the same where possible.

  5. Parents will be required to sign a waiver prior to arrival to certify the following:

a. They will not bring their young person to a SOD session if they or anyone in their household is experiencing symptoms or received a positive PCR/Lateral Flow test in the last 7 days.

b. If symptoms arise during a SOD session, they or a designated person will be available to collect their child ASAP.

c. If symptoms arise in their household within 7 days after attending a SOD session they will inform Trestle as soon as is reasonably possible.

5. Increased cleaning of our venue will take place.

6. Care will be taken to socially distance where possible and spaces will be well ventilated during sessions.

7. There will be no parent entry to the venue on pick up and drop off, unless invited to specific performances or accessing other services such as the café, to decrease the risk of transmission.

We’re putting procedures in place to minimise the risk of:

  • Spread of Infection from child to child

  • Spread of infection from parent to parent

  • Spread of infection from child to parent/instructor

  • Virus spread via surface contact

  • Development of symptoms

Precautions we’re taking:

  • Surface clean of the venue spaces at the beginning and end of every day.

  • Frequent hand washing and hand sanitising to be implemented.

  • Suitable soap and paper towels will be available.

  • Hand sanitiser will be made available.

  • Instructors will check stock daily.

  • PPE (Gloves) will be required for dealing with first aid issues.

  • Staff will wear face coverings according to their own preference.

  • Participants will be supported in their choice to wear face coverings when moving around the building or in close contact with other participants.

DISTANCING MEASURES AT PICK UP AND DROP OFF

  • 1m social distancing will be observed where possible.

  • Attendees will be temperature checked with a no-contact thermometer at the door.

DISTANCING MEASURES DURING ACTIVITY

  • We will endeavour to keep a safe distance between all staff and children where possible.

  • Sharing of food items/water bottles will not be permitted.

ACTIVE RESPONSE (IF SYMPTOMS ARE SHOWN)

  • A designated space for anyone showing symptoms will be set where staff can still safely supervise.

  • The parent or carer will be contacted for immediate collection.

  • The parent/carer will be asked to provide test results where possible

  • Following collection, the area will be disinfected

  • The instructor will deep clean their person, hand washing, change of clothes and incident will be logged as soon as possible. All families will be notified.

CANCELLATION

The term will be payable upfront after an initial taster session to ensure that all participants are happy with the new procedures.

  • If the SOD sessions cannot happen in person due to government guidelines or someone in the group receiving a positive test we will move the classes online where possible.

  • A refund of 50% will be given for any sessions delivered online.

  • A full refund will be given for sessions that are fully cancelled.

  • If you miss sessions due to Covid 19 symptoms we will refund you for those sessions.

  • Missed days for reasons other than Covid 19 symptoms will not be refunded.

The following restrictions will be in place to keep everyone safe:

  • We reserve the right to restrict access to anyone showing symptoms

  • We reserve the right to ask a child to be picked up early if they develop symptoms

  • Should your child develop symptoms during a SOD session or 7 days after you agree to obtain a test and inform Trestle of the result.

  • A minimum of 5 days symptom-free will need to be agreed to attend any session.

We would like to be clear that our temperature checks are not a medical diagnosis, only a preventative measure and further medical guidance should be sought if you or your family are displaying symptoms.
