Pursued by a Bear Productions join us at Trestle Arts Base

Pursued by a Bear Productions | New Artistic Director – New Residency

Rosamunde Hutt

Pursued by a Bear Productions are pleased to announce that Rosamunde Hutt has been invited to become Artistic Director. She succeeds Helena Bell who was appointed Artistic Director of Kali Theatre Company in 2016.

The Company are now moving into Trestle Arts Base in St Albans as a resident company, renewing our commitment to the south east region. We leave Farnham Maltings after a successful 13 year relationship.

Rosamunde Hutt’s extensive career has focused on new writing. She served as Artistic Director of Theatre Centre from 1993-2007 and Associate Artistic Director of the Unicorn Theatre between 2007 and 2011. Recent freelance directing includes the multi award nominated Love Bombs and Apples by Hassan Abdulrazzak (AIK Productions/Turtle Key Arts/Arcola 2015, 2016 plus UK tour, and Edinburgh Festival 2017), award nominated This Evil Thing by Michael Mears (Edinburgh Festival 2016 and touring the UK in autumn 2017), and John Whiting Award winner Jumping on my Shadow by Peter Rumney (Dragon Breath Theatre/Lakeside Arts Centre, touring the Midlands in autumn 2017) which she originally commissioned at Theatre Centre.

Chair of PBAB’s Trustees Cathy Westbrook said: “We warmly welcome Rosamunde to the company and are greatly looking forward to working with her and with Trestle. We are also deeply grateful to Farnham Maltings for all their support over the many years they have been our home.”

Rosamunde Hutt herself said that “Having followed PBAB’s exemplary work since Stuart Mullins and Joseph Millson founded the company in 1998 I have regarded PBAB as a beacon of imaginative and provocative new writing. I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to develop the company’s long-standing commitment to diversity and story-telling with a global perspective.”

Emily Gray, Artistic Director of Trestle said “We are delighted to welcome PBAB into Trestle Arts Base, where the distinct skills and experience of the two companies will complement each other in developing new productions and projects.”

Pursued By A Bear’s Associate Director, Grant Watson, will continue to develop film and transmedia projects for the company. His play The Lamellar Project, was commissioned and toured by PBAB in 2016 and transferred in July 2017 to Philadelphia, USA in a production led by Tiny Dynamite.
