Presented by Trestle in collaboration with Increpación Danza
Lola tells the story of the infamous 19th Century Spanish dancer who stormed her way through life on a tumultuous journey of seduction, sorrow and success.
An actress and a courtesan, a revolutionary and an adventuress, the breaker of hearts and toppler of a kingdom; this was Lola Montez and tonight you will hear her story.
In Trestle's latest production, Lola revisits her bittersweet past, from humble Irish beginnings to becoming one of the world's most notorious women. Fusing theatre, dance and live music from renowned flamenco guitarist Ricardo Garcia, the show celebrates the life of an extraordinary woman who lived like she danced, with all the might of her body and the fire of her soul.
"A racy, pacey and inventive chamber-sized physical theatre production based on this extraordinary woman's life." The Times
"This is a real-life picaresque romp through the courts and theatres of nineteenth-century Europe". Time Out
"Inventive and imaginative." Liverpool Daily Post
"Trestle's choice of lead - Georgina Roberts - was nothing short of genius. Roberts brought laughs thick and fast and the characters deep vulnerability always brimmed close to the surface." Irish Post
