By David Mamet
7.30pm
A play capturing the agony of the creative process. Arthur, an eccentric writer, fixated on the story of one man’s encounter with a squirrel and Edna, a younger, more realistic writer, hired by Arthur to assist him with his writing. They are occasionally accompanied by the amusing character, ‘the cleaning lady’, who longs to be a writer herself. ‘This is a rollicking, frolicking, nonetheless tender excursion into the forbidden realm of literary creativity, whimsy and despair’.
Playwright, screenwriter David Mamet is known for his accurate use of American vernacular through which he explores the relationship between language and behaviour. An entertaining evening for all!
