Maureen Carveley is a practising artist with many years experience, having originally studied painting and printed textiles at Bournemouth College of Art before taking a post graduate Art teachers’ certificate at Hornsey College of Art. Since retiring from teaching Art in Secondary schools she has been able to pursue her love of painting and drawing whilst still doing a small amount of part time teaching for adults.
Maureen draws in pen and ink and paints mainly in oils and watercolour. In the summer months she particularly enjoys working outside either in her garden or in the Hertfordshire landscape. Maureen works directly from the subject and when painting portraits and the figure she uses oils. For landscapes and still life she favours watercolour. Recently she has included animals in her port folio. She exhibits extensively in Hertfordshire and has undertaken a number of commissions.
