The Best of the Fest for a Fiver!
Two Eastern region companies will be previewing their latest shows before taking them to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later this year. Don't miss the mesmerising and infectious percussionist Adriano Adewale, as well as the 'downright funny' comedy dance duo New Art Club.
Sound Journey by Adriano Adewale Group
Tuesday 23 June, 8pm
Created and performed by afro-Brazilian master percussionist Adriano Adewale, Sound
Journey is a solo work of world-musical-theatre, which uses percussion, voice and dance to
explore its core contemporary themes. The piece speaks about our current concerns of
cultural identity, immigration, migration and climate change.
New Art Club: This is Now by New Art Club
Thursday 25 June, 8pm
In 1983, Tom illegally taped the first ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ LP (side one) onto a C60 cassette. 25 years later he found it in a draw and so we made a show about it.
Following the success of last year’s Extra Ordinary World, New Art Club are jumping headlong into the dark pool of days gone by and coming out covered in a filthy 80’s gunk. By deconstructing this classic album to unearth funny dances and philosophical comedy about then, the future and now, can Pete and Tom save themselves from drowning in teenage reminiscences?
Edinburgh First is part of the St Albans Festival. Tickets are just £5 per show.
